"Recession" T-Shirt Design..!!

Things must be getting worse, because even at The Filthy Moods Emporium for Spoiled Cartoonists we're "feeling the pinch"! I mean, have you seen the price of supermarket wine and prescription drugs lately? Not to mention art supplies! Bastards.

So, in the spirit of Politicians' "catch phrases" past and present, such as "No more U-turns", "I am not a crook", "Out of my way, you Pleb..." and "Honest, Hilary, she only put it in her mouth, is all", I present "FUCKING HELL!! ...Is This All There Is?!" With our old favourite, the "Mutant Anus-Chicken" standing on a heap of land-fill.

Does this capture these difficult times? You tell me.

Gimme Danger... Gimme Somethin'!! (Colour)

What more is there to add to this depiction of a hard livin' foetus hovering in perverse anticipation, around some nightmare driven, plant-sprouting orifices?

I shall remain speechless for now...

He's had a tough week too... Might explain a few things..!

Martian Love Machine...

Greetings.

We have a tentacle full of drawings from The Filthy Moods Crater for Multi-Limbed Cartoonists, shown here and in the posts below.

There's Witches, Mermaids, Gangsters and Martians. Not to mention our old favourite the Serpent (You know, the one from that Garden that the Church keeps going on about...) and others!

Shown above is a potentially romantic encounter (Don't hold your breath) between extraterrestrials.

Who says Filthy Moods ain't a sentimental place to work..?

The Peacekeeper...

Today's Before Breakfast drawing features that old comics favourite, the atrocity of war.

Mermaid, Hapless Fish and Hungry Plants..

Just like the title says.

My guess, though, is that she won't try to help the fish get out of that aquatic tangle...

God, Apple and Serpent

A rough sketch for a "gag". This is the first version. If I redraw it, I'll have the arrow pointing more at the Serpent's head to emphasise the "joke". I also wanted to keep it "simple" in composition and content so that only the essential elements are visible...

"Space Plants" and "Witches"!

Another Spacecraft zipping over some far flung alien terrain bristling with unusual plant life...

...And a sketch of a couple of witches.

Spartacus! And Other "Experiments..."

I was trying for a "Kirk Douglas-type" Spartacus to contrast him against a "modern-type" counterpart, as in the brilliant ultra violent TV version, in order to make some lame joke... But, this cartoon Spartacus looks too demented, so I left off finishing it...

The Svengali of the Bone Dump... People go to dump there old (?) bones there, and he hypnotizes them into dancing... I guess!

Quick sketch of a female Djinn.

Gangster and his "Moll". Probably some joke about a "shoulder holster" that was too lame to write down...

"BooBee!"

"BooBee"?! That joke is so old, that you've probably seen it on the Bayeux Tapestry.

But, I like drawing these cartoon insects as they open up possibilities for me for the characters and comic situations. I've no doubts that they're burbling up to the surface of my brain years after reading Bode's work (Especially Sunpot) But...

Dinosaur Versus Martian..!

At the Filthy Moods Academy for Serious Thought, and Philosophical Atrocity, we occasionally take time out from our dry studies, and ask burning questions such as, "What would happen if a dinosaur fought a Martian?"

The "Reality Principle" & Other Sketches...

A bit of existential philosophy to distract you from the confusing drawing... Huh?  "Huh?" Indeed!

What's happening here? Oh, let's just admire the imaginary plants and pretend that nothing is going on...

Phew!

2 Minute Portrait. It took 2 minutes, and...

"Lo, He is Risen.!!"

Now, I don't want to sound, er... cynical, but I've seen Zombie movies and I've been to church and read loads of comics, and y'know... It makes you think how these things get started...

Y'know..?

And I ain't even mentioned the Crusades yet...

"Caption Required..."

Caption Required: Must conform to expected levels of smut and innuendo. Absurd dialogue is a preference. Entries received after yesterday declared void.

Default Caption: She, "Is that a carrot in your pocket, or am I going to have to kick the fucking shit out of you... again?"
He: "Then I, er... guess it's a carrot..."

"Inkaholic" Print

Here is another "test print" with the verso below done on handmade Khadi paper which has a really nice texture. I did a few more on previous posts, but had an "ink" problem with our printer. Still, they look ok enough to post...

More new cartoons tomorrow!

Reverse of the Inkaholics print...

"Ka-Bloop! - She's Got The Power!"

She's got the power!

Here, and the three posts below are the four cartoons that I drew today.

Thank you for visiting.

"Be Bold!" Sensible Advice Page...

Yep. At Filthy Moods we take our social responsibility seriously. So here is some sound advice for those everyday "sticky situations".

"The Church of Love and Reason"

Just your run o' the mill everyday Inquisition type torture scene...

Skeleton in Ill-Fitting Suit

I've not drawn a skeleton for a long time, which is odd because when I was a kid, skeletons were pretty much all I drew.

Here's just a quick sketch inspired by those old Betty Boop cartoons. Especially the ones featuring Cab Calloway with bizarre images and surreal rotoscoped music routines, usually set in some underground cavern or graveyard, with those crazy 1930's animators who all somehow had a hotline to the id...

Peaceable Kingdom...

Here and in the several posts below are the sketches done over the past couple of days.

We have perverted rabbits, biblical insights, alien worlds and singing dinosaurs!

As usual, they are all drawn direct with ink on paper, no pencils or even an idea of what I'm going to do before that first pen stroke! And that's the only excuse I can offer...

Allegory With Cheese...

There's a rabbit somewhere in this picture...

The Pupil Giver/Gatherer & More!

A distant planet populated by seemingly sightless eyeballs growing from the ground. Above them hovers a benevolent female astronaut freely distributing pupils to liberate the unseeing aliens...

But hold on! Is she really an astronaut or is she just a humanoid machine controlled by the "eyeball" in the space craft? And, in a more sinister vein, is she stealing the pupils from the helpless primitives to feed some greed or hunger on the part of the ship's inhabitant?

Another wonky space ship fiddling with some alien plant life...

An inky demon...

...And a rodent symbolic, no doubt, of something or other.

"Ego Problems..." & Others...

Like the guy says. "At least he's wearing pants this time..."

A sketch of a comely pirate!

...And one of an "inky" demon... (I think I've posted him twice..!)

Deluded knight returning from ill-fated quest with unrealistic proposal...

Creepy Mermaid

Eek! She's a bit creepy... I like the fish, but think that the picture fell apart when I drew the mermaid. Maybe next time...

Singing Dinosaur!

Drawn in pen on a tiny piece of pastel paper. Why? Because dinosaurs are cool, and singing dinosaurs are even cooler!

"OOGH!"

There's a few new drawings/sketches from the Filthy Moods Reservation for Cartoonists Without Reservations to post up, all scrawled on paper over the last couple of days.

Here's one for now. I shall post the rest tomorrow...

"Unconflicting Interests"...

Technical Note: After drawing & posting up previous cartoons, I went for a walk and 10 minutes into it "got" the vision of the Ape-face & horns... Wouldn't go away, so I went home & started drawing this...

Excuses: A "Crucified Ape"? You make up your own version of events!

Further Excuse: As usual, no pencils or roughs. Must learn to plan this stuff out... If you could see this shit like I see it in my brain... Maybe next time!

"A Modern Fable" !

Good morning.

Today's "before breakfast" sketch features a subtle morality in its depiction of Nature being indiscriminate in choosing its victims. It's a tough life out there and no mistake!

But mostly, it's a cartoon rabbit stabbing a duck and getting blown by a bee... I guess Aesop missed this one.

"The Incurable Optimist"

Here he is, the eponymous Optimist, traveling backwards on his "hound of spring", a rather degenerate looking and cynical canine. But at least our fellow is happy in his delusions.

Angels, Apples and Anecdotes...

Today's "Before Breakfast" sketch/joke/opinionated blather, features that old nag from the Filthy Moods Stable for Unstable Cartoonists, The Garden of Eden...

Thank you for your kind attention.

Your reward will no doubt be in Heaven, and if it's shut for repairs, then just take a ticket and await your turn...

Pard's First Birthday

Do demons have birthdays? I dunno. I suppose that they do. And who's gonna stop 'em?

A pard, by the way is a "spotted cat" that can kill (According to legend) with one leap. No, he's not a cat.

Confused? If so, I've added a gratuitous drawing of a naked lady below to distract us all...

"Albert Ross" & Pals...

According to the Medieval Bestiary, the pelican represents Jesus, as it can revive its dead young by tearing open its own breast and feeding them blood.

Nothing in there about dinosaurs running around in stripey shorts, though. I made that one up...

"Earth-Monster"

Here's another regressive cartoon thinly disguised as a Sci-Fi drawing to hide its infantile take on "grown-up" relationships.

Hey, I just draw what I see!

...And here is one of a few prints that I tried to make today. It's printed on a textured "vellum" paper, but the ink was playing up... Just seeing if it looks any better up on the Blog.

Sunday II (Ipso Facto...)

Here are the latest extracts from the Filthy Moods Cut Price Bestiary for your delight or despair. Hopefully both.

I've dredged up a few images from years past and invented a couple of "new ones" just to keep "on the ball". Or at least stumble around the "ball"pretending that I know what I'm doing.

There's quotes, comments, jokes and dubious drawings! A bargain at twice the price, and as it's free to gawp, you can't complain.

Unless you really want to...

Enjoy.

Flywheel Is Here...

I'd be surprised if someone hasn't done this before, (or will do it again for that matter)

As with Earth-Monster, in another post, here's another print "experiment". This one printed on thick hand-made Khadi paper. I was hoping for a "pressure printing" effect with this paper, but as you can see I'm having a "bad ink day"...
